Start with chest girth. If the smaller size would be snug through the chest, choose the larger size. Then check back length and the product’s stretch. Never choose a tight size just to make the back look neater.
1. Measure the dog who will wear it
Breed and weight can narrow the search, but they cannot replace measurements. Two 8 lb dogs can have completely different rib cages and body lengths. Measure while your dog is standing: chest around the widest point just behind the front legs, and back from the collar line to the base of the tail.
